Focus Attacks are powerful feats of combat ability that focus one's internal energy into an outburst of damage. Alternatively, they can also be used for other things, but dishing out massive amounts of damage is the most common use. All basic focus attacks are level 1. Focus Attacks past level 1 have progressively harder requirements to attain. Extra Focus Attacks, which Fighters get, must meet the prerequisites. Note that the focus attacks gained from leveling will not have names: it is up to the player to name them. In addition, some weapons or magic items may give focus attacks, and players may make their own focus attacks and submit them for my approval. When an attack multiplies physical damage, all they multiply is the base weapon damage and other enhancements to weapon damage. They do not, however, multiply extra damage dice from sneak attack, precision attacks, or elemental damage dice, unless stated otherwise. Base attack bonus requirements for focus attacks are required to gain the focus attack normally. However, if already obtained through one or another means, the focus attack can be activated even if the base attack bonus prerequisite is not met. Focus Attacks can be combined with other attack actions that normally replace attacks, unless otherwise specified. For example, a Jump attack can be used to make a sunder attempt. Or Dash could be combined with a Smite Evil attack. Focus attacks require that the weapon's bonded magicite (See Equipment) be placed in a command slot and usable by the character. Some weapons may have special requirements to using their bonded magicite, and others may not have this magicite at all. -Basic Focus Attacks: (Clavat) Dash (Exclusive) A focused dash at one enemy, the character charges the opponent, dealing 50% more damage than they normally would with a +2 chance to-hit. The bonus damage only applies to physical damage. Conversely, the character suffers a -2 penalty to their AC until their next turn comes up. In addition, if the character used a shield bash, they can initiate a bull- rush as a free action to push the opponent back with their shield if they hit. Charged Shot A focus of the character's will into a projectile, this attack deals the normal damage of a weapon out to a range of 20 ft. Dex is used to-hit instead of str, and damage is calculated with the Charisma stat. So, for instance, if a level 1 fighter with 16 strength (+3), 12 dex (+1), and 15 cha (+2) uses a charged shot, they roll d20+2 to-hit and +2 for damage. (Liltie) Jump Attack (Exclusive) An exclusive focus attack to Lilties. this attack will deal double physical damage to one opponent. The attack requires a jump check (DC 15) to be successful, and causes the Liltie to suffer a -2 penalty to AC until their next action. However, the opponent is automatically stunned and fails any concentration attempt they would have made. Charge Beam Similar to Charged Shot, this is a focus of the character's will into a beam. The range is 15 ft., but as it hits a line it may hit any opponents and allies in the way as well. The attack roll uses the character's dexterity and damage is according to the character's wisdom. If intending to hit more than one opponent, each successive attack roll is made at a -4 penalty. Otherwise, this attack does normal dice damage. (Selkie) Strike Past Focusing their energy, a Selkie can dash through and past an enemy without their notice. This is an attack at full strength bonus with normal movement but causes the opponent to lose their dex bonus (as if flat-footed) for the attack, if the enemy is flanked, otherwise engaged, or not expecting you. Double Shot (Exclusive) A double-attack, this focus attack has a range of 20 ft. These attacks deal the full damage of a normal attack, and use dex for accuracy. No bonus damage is applied from any stat. Only the first attack conveys sneak attack and precision damage. (Yuke) Charge Aura (Exclusive) As the strangest of all the tribes, the Yukes only have one focus attack. A charge aura is a focus of a Yuke's will into a projectable aura. This aura has a max range of 20 ft. and will attack anything in a 3 ft. radius of where it is targeted. It deals 1d8+int damage and uses the Yuke's normal BAB and int bonus to-hit. -Level 1 Focus Attacks: All level 1 focus attacks have a BAB requirement of +1 Splice Prerequisites: BAB +1 or higher, Two-Weapon Fighting Make a full complement of attacks. For every pair of attacks you hit with both hands, apply your dex bonus or your level, whichever is lower, in addition to your strength bonus for the damage on those attacks. This focus attack does not provoke attacks of opportunity. It does, however, leave the attacker flat-footed. Counter attack Prerequisites: BAB +1 or higher, Con 11+ Focusing on a single opponent's movements, the initiator of this focus attack holds the attack until he or she is hit by an attack from the targeted opponent in melee. The initiator of this focus attack then makes two attack rolls: The first is opposed the opponent's already rolled attack. If this roll is greater than the opponent's roll, then the opponent's attack is knocked aside. Regardless of the success of this first roll, the focuser can then make a free attack of opportunity against the opponent. This focus attack has no effect against spells or ranged attacks. Only one opponent may be designated as the target: if another attacks the focuser before the time is up, this focus attack does not take effect. Throw Prerequisites: BAB +1 or higher, Str 11+ The user of this attack may increase their strength to the point of causing massive damage to an opponent by throwing a weapon. Weapon-bonded magicite is not needed for this focus attack. The user makes a ranged attack roll at the target and adds twice their strength bonus to the damage of the weapon. The weapon thrown can be anything the user could normally wield. This attack negates any armor or natural DR the creature has (Other types of DR, such as from special qualities, still apply). The range of this attack is 25 ft. The weapon, regardless of weather it hit or not, has a 50% chance of beind destroyed. Darkblade Prerequisites: BAB +1 or higher, Str 11+, Evil alignment A basic attack of budding Dark Knights, Darkblade is a melee attack infused by the dark powers of the attacker. By channeling their own life into the attack, they can cause extraordinary amounts of damage. The dark knight sacrifices 'x' amount of hit points when this attack is made. While held, the user can keep moving at will, but cannot be healed over his current HP-'x'. The attack, when made from a held action, deals normal damage. In addition, it deals x points of dark damage to the target. This damage cannot be healed by normal means: It takes 5 points of healing to remove one dark damage delt from this attack. While this focus attack is held, the dark knight cannot cast spells or use any other focus attacks. Holyblade Prerequisites: BAB +1 or higher, Str 11+, Good alignment The counter to Darkblade, Holyblade is a melee attack used by many early paladins. Channeling the power of good, a paladin may deal large amounts of damage as well. While holyblade is charging, the paladin provokes attacks of opportunity as normal. For every point of damage the paladin takes durring the charging, the paladin deals an extra point of holy damage back at the specified target when the paladin finally releases this attack. Taking damage is easier while using this focus attack: Unless hit by a stunning attack, the paladin automatically makes their save to concentrate. If combined with a smite attack against a proper target, this damage is multiplied by two as well. Draw Prerequisites: BAB +1 or higher, Casting stat 13+, Blue Magic: Basic Using this technique, a blue mage can attempt to draw the essence of a spell from a monster without incuring the penalties of an attack. The blue mage designates a monster within 20 ft. as the target. The monster is allowed a will save to keep the blue mage from gaining the spell's charge (11+casting stat). If the monster fails this save, then the blue mage gains one charge of that spell. The spell's level may not be any higher than level 6. Regardless, this focus attack may only be used once per monster. Level 2 Focus Attack examples: All level 2 focus attacks have a BAB requirement of +4 Dash'n'cash Prerequisites: BAB +4, Dex 13+, Strike Past, Dodge, Mobility This focus attack operates as Strike Past, only the attacker can, instead of attacking, attempt to lift the wallet or other small item off of the target. This requires a DC15 Sleight of Hand check, and the opponent gets a +5 bonus to their spot check to detect you. If the opponent is otherwise engaged, however, they suffer a -5 penalty to detect you and get no bonus to detect. Draw Strike Prerequisites: BAB +4 or higher, Casting stat 13+, Blue Magic: Basic, Draw This focus attack operates exactly like draw, except you end near the opponent (as a charge), make an attack at full base attack bonus, and if that attack deals damage you gain one use of the spell. Regardless, this focus attack may only be used once per enemy Cross-Slash Prerequisites: BAB +4, Dash (Focus Attack), Mobility, str 13+ Operating similar to Dash, this attack allows a charge torwards one enemy. The attacker still suffers the -2 AC, but instead of doing one attack, they do two attacks at full BAB. Do not include the +2 bonus and 50% damage that Dash normally gives. Sonic Blade Prerequisites: BAB +4, Strike Past, Dex 15+ Operates exactly like Strike Past. The only exception is if the attack beats the opponent's AC by 5 or more, you wheel back and score an extra hit for every 5 points you beat their AC by. You cannot score more than 2 additional hits this way (for a total of 3). Impact Zone Prerequisites: BAB +4, Jump Attack, Str 13+, Jump Rank 7 This focus attack is an improved version of Jump. The jump DC is still 15, but the attack now affects a 5 ft. radius. Likewise, it deals double damage to the target opponent and normal damage to all targets caught in the radius. If the target is missed, they still take the normal damage as a target in the radius. Targets hit by the radius are allowed a reflex save (DC 12+str) for half damage. Triple Shot Prerequisites: BAB +4, Double-Shot, Dex 13+ Operates identical to Double Shot, except it fires three shots off at full BAB, each at a -2 penalty to-hit. Precision damage still only applies to the first two. Delayed Charge Aura Prerequisites: BAB +4, Charge Aura, Int 13+ Operates identical to Charge Aura, except the damage is 3d8+int damage and, while it is held, the attacker can act normally. The attack can be held for up to 5 rounds, after which it discharges automatically on top of the attacker, injuring them as well. Spell breaker Energy Lance Counterstrike Elemental Seal Prerequisites: BAB +4, Caster Level +8, Casting Stat 15+, No Divine Seal, Spellcraft 11+ ranks, Spell Penetration, Augment Damage This focus attack can be charged once every hour. When charged and held, it does not inhibit movement, defense, or provoke AoOs like most held focus attacks. The next offensively cast spell will activate with this focus attack, and as a result increase it's save DC by your caster level, making it almost unresistable. Divine Seal Prerequisites: BAB +4, Caster Level +8, Casting Stat 15+, No Elemental Seal Spellcraft 11+ ranks, Turn Undead, Augment Healing This works exactly like Elemental Seal, except the result takes place on a healing spell. The healing spell has double the effect after the effects of any metamagic feats piled on it. Level 3 Focus Attack examples: All level 3 focus attacks have a BAB requirement of +8 Improved Draw Darkwave Holywave Mug Spin Cut Avalanche Auto-Shot Dead Zone Adamatty's Request Tiger Rampage (Griffon Claw) Level 4 Focus Attack examples: All level 4 focus attacks have a BAB requirement of +12 Mystic Draw The Greedy Blade Strike Raid Heaven's Lead Gale Slash Pentathrust (Kusanagi) (Dragon Claw) (Flamespinner) (Iceweaver) Level 5 Focus Attack examples: All level 5 focus attacks have a BAB requirement of +15 Unholy Blight Holy Life Ars Arcanum Confuse Fire Dance Rosario Impale (Masamune) (Masa) (Mune) (Ashura Revenge) (Gugnir) (Highwind) (Dreamcatcher) Level 6 Focus Attack examples: All level 6 focus attacks have a BAB requirement of +18 Rising Nova Final Heaven Vorpal Blade (Ragnarok) (Atma Strike)
